Exoneration May Spur More DNA Sampling

Gov. Mark R. Warner is reviewing a proposal to test random samples of old DNA evidence from thousands of crime scenes after genetic tests exonerated a man who had served 22 years in prison for two rapes, the third such reversal in Virginia.

Virginia has amassed one of the nation's largest DNA databases and has been a leader nationally in the use of DNA evidence in criminal prosecutions.
