Post-Intruder Palace Security Report Mixed

Alarms and cameras at Buckingham Palace worked well in detecting the breach of security by a man dressed as Batman, but it was too easy for him to get onto a balcony, Home Secretary David Blunkett said.

Protester Jason Hatch used a ladder to scale a perimeter wall before climbing onto the facade of Queen Elizabeth II's main residence Monday. No royal family members were on the premises.

Hatch's stunt prompted fresh questions about the much-criticized and recently overhauled royal security operation.
