Get your high kicks at the Hollywood Bowl

September 16, 2004

Paris invades the Hollywood Bowl this weekend. No, not Paris Hilton. It's the City-of-Light-based jazz quintet, the Paris Combo, plus 16 high-kicking dancers from the legendary hot spot, the Moulin Rouge.

These fluffy-clad, long-legged dancers are going to show us what the original cancan looks like.

The quintet, which specializes in putting a jazzy twist on French cabaret, and the dancers are part of the "Night at the Moulin Rouge" program by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, led by John Mauceri.

The genial conductor is sure to give the audience a unique introduction to the festivities, which also includes Gershwin's "An American in Paris," Loewe's "Gigi," Rosza's "Madame Bovary" Waltz and Debussy's "Claire de Lune."

The program will end in a fireworks display inspired by the city of lovers.

"Night at the Moulin Rouge," Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Ave., Hollywood. 8:30 Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m. Sunday. $3-$45.50. (323) 850-2000.
