September 17, 2004|From Times Wire Reports

SPAIN

Spain and France have agreed to set up joint police units to investigate Islamic militant groups and the Basque separatist organization ETA, Spain's Justice Ministry said.

One joint team will investigate whether an Al Qaeda "international terrorism financing network" exists in Spain, with links to France and Morocco, the ministry said.

Another team aims to track down and arrest ETA members responsible for bombings at Spanish seaside resorts, it said.
