Kerry Out of Context

September 25, 2004

Once again, Michael Ramirez is reiterating the big lie to the rabble who are too unintelligent to read and understand John Kerry's quotes in context (editorial cartoon, Commentary, Sept. 21). He depicts Kerry as two-faced, using varying pseudo quotes, the meanings of which can be understood only in the points of time in which they were made.

When I was a teacher of high school students, in recalling the Hitler frenzy of the 1930s, I used to tell my students that an educated, informed electorate is the only way that we have a chance to retain our democratic freedoms. I had no idea at the time that I ever would be living through a test of our democracy.
