From time to time you have featured articles and letters offering solutions on how to prevent birds from flying into large, sunny windows, either killing or maiming them ["On Alert for Feathered Friends," March 10]. We had the problem for years, trying decals and other solutions to no avail.
Last year we happened upon what we think is the perfect solution: We purchased three 18-inch-long, hard plastic spirals -- clear, with a rainbow of colors painted on the edges. We hung them at varying heights from the eaves over a 5-by-8-foot window.
