Sporadic rain showers were expected throughout Southern California today as a Pacific storm system moved rapidly inland before dawn.
The National Weather Service said the rainfall should generally be moderate, with up to a half-inch in the coastal valleys and about an inch along the foothills. There probably won't be enough rain to trigger mudslides on hillsides stripped bare by wildfires, the weather service said.
