The Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved $5.1 million to create a gang task force Tuesday that will provide 44 new prosecutors, sheriff's deputies and probation officers to fight the county's growing gang problem.
The board voted 4 to 0 for the measure, with Chairman Marion Ashley absent.
The anti-gang unit, divided into eight regional teams, will begin work in March.
