DAWN MICELI DREW DOMKUS
Podcasters
Most people move to Los Angeles seeking fame and fortune. But for Dawn Miceli, 29, and Drew Domkus, 34, it took moving away from Los Angeles to find it – at least by podcasting standards.
After their Montecito Heights home was burglarized, the married couple, who describe themselves as ex-gutter punks, soon left California, eventually settling on a 19th century dairy farm in southeast Wisconsin where today they produce one of the most popular podcasts in the world. They aren’t millionaires by any stretch but through sponsorships have made enough to quit their day jobs to keep turning out their candid, sometimes raunchy show that touches on love and sex and even farm animals.
“It’s do-it-yourself radio, and we’ve struck a nerve,” said Miceli who, with Domkus, auctioned off a camping trip with them on EBay for more than $3,000. “People want to hear their own voices in radio. We have no script or agenda. We talk honestly – it’s the ultimate eavesdropping.”
