Child Dies as Protesters Clash With Police

A Sudanese girl about 4 years old died in clashes between Egyptian police and hundreds of Sudanese demanding to be allowed to resettle abroad.

Witnesses said other Sudanese were wounded at the site of the protest in Cairo.

Earlier, troops fired water cannons at the refugees to force them to dismantle their protest camp.

The Sudanese were seeking refugee status to allow resettlement in the West. But a peace deal in Sudan has made the status difficult to obtain.
