Eminem video takes shots at ex
The video for Eminem’s “Mockingbird,” which made its debut this week, doesn’t mock President Bush or pop-star defendant Michael Jackson, his targets in two videos last year. This time the raw images are closer to home – literally.
Based on the nursery classic, “Mockingbird” has Eminem comforting his daughter, Hailie Jade, and expressing his regret that divorce, arrests and strife have splintered the family. Shown alone in a mansion watching home movies that bring the viewer into his strained family circle, Eminem offers some praise of his ex-wife’s devotion to their child but then also sprinkles in some pointed lines about Kim Mathers and her continuing legal problems. “Lookin’ puzzled, in a daze, I know it’s confusin’ you / Daddy’s always on the move, Mama’s always on the news.”
