CBS News launched free broadband video news clips on its website Tuesday as officials announced plans to develop a video-on-demand digital network.
Rather than pursue a sister cable channel, CBS News is expanding its website into a one-stop shop for news and analysis. Through a video player called "The EyeBox" now available on CBSNews .com, viewers will be able to watch more than 25,000 video clips, including stories that have not yet been broadcast on television. In late summer, the network will post a blog called "Public Eye," edited by media writer Vaughn Ververs, that will examine internal news-gathering methods.
