Construction Project to Close Part of 101 Off and On Over Weekend
All lanes of the southbound Ventura Freeway between Victoria Avenue in Ventura and Vineyard Avenue in Oxnard will be closed from 11 tonight until 7 a.m. Saturday.
The same stretch will be closed again from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, and possibly from 11 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Detours will be indicated.
The closures are related to the opening of the southbound Oxnard Boulevard onramp, tentatively scheduled for Tuesday.
The ramp is part of a $100-million improvement project on U.S. 101 from Johnson Drive in Ventura to Vineyard Avenue.
The project, which got underway in 2002, is expected to be finished by 2008. Major components include the addition of north- and southbound lanes to the 101 and construction of a new bridge over the Santa Clara River.
