Typhoon Claims Lives of 50; Dozens Missing
Emergency workers found 50 bodies and were searching for dozens of people missing after Typhoon Longwang slammed into southeastern China, state media reported.
Among the missing were 59 members of a paramilitary police brigade who state media reported Tuesday had been swept away in weekend flooding in Fujian province.
The typhoon, whose name means "Dragon King" in Chinese, was later downgraded to a tropical storm. It had killed at least one person in Taiwan.
