Supplemental oxygen can cut infections

Supplemental oxygen during and after surgery can significantly reduce a patient's risk of incision site infections.

In a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Assn., Spanish researchers found that supplemental oxygen reduced the risk of surgical site infections by nearly 54% in patients who had colorectal surgery.
