Television coverage of Hurricane Katrina's aftermath drew hefty ratings Wednesday as broadcast television networks devoted parts of their prime-time schedules to the disaster for the first time and cable news channels remained focused on the Gulf Coast.
More than 12 million people tuned into a "Dateline" special on NBC Wednesday night, according to Nielsen Media Research. An ABC News special garnered more than 9.3 million viewers, while more than 8.2 million tuned into a CBS special report.
