Other Deaths

The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq:

Frederick A. Carlson, 25, of Bethlehem, Pa.; specialist, Army National Guard. Carlson was found unconscious in his barracks March 25 and died a short time later at a hospital in Taqqadum, Iraq, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 228th Forward Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 28th Infantry Division, Army National Guard in Bethlehem.

Walter M. Moss Jr., 37, of Houston; technical sergeant, Air Force. Moss was killed Wednesday while trying to defuse a homemade bomb near Baghdad. He was assigned to the 366th Civil Engineer Squadron at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.

Christopher L. Robinson, 36, of Brandon, Miss.; staff sergeant, Army National Guard. Robinson was killed March 25 when his Humvee was attacked with small-arms fire during combat in the Sangin district of southern Afghanistan's Helmand province. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group, Army National Guard in Jackson, Miss.

Michael D. Rowe, 23, of New Port Richey, Fla.; sergeant, Army. Rowe was killed Tuesday when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in Rutbah, Iraq, west of Baghdad. He was assigned to the 46th Engineer Battalion, Warrior Brigade at Ft. Polk, La.

John T. Stone, 52, of Norwich, Vt.; sergeant first class, Army National Guard. Stone was killed Tuesday by small-arms fire near Lashkagar in southern Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 15th Civil Support Team, Army National Guard in South Burlington, Vt.

Sean D. Tharp, 21, of Orlando, Fla.; private first class, Army. Tharp was killed Tuesday when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire while on foot patrol in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.
