'Stupid Holidays' for $1,000, Please, Alex . . .

April 09, 2006

Saturday is National Take a Wild Guess Day. We don't think the fact that it falls on April 15 has anything to do with how the government is putting your taxes to use, but that's a wild guess. At the State Library in Sacramento, they don't have a clue what the holiday's for, either. "We're all about getting the answers right, not wild guessing," explains senior librarian Catherine Hanson-Tracy. "Shouldn't it fall on April Fool's Day?" Good question. Obviously, the person to ask is Alex Trebek, at right, the host of "Jeopardy!" for 22 seasons and the holder of a degree in that most exact of sciences: philosophy.
