'Producers' gets Vegas booking

The Mel Brooks musical "The Producers" is Vegas-bound. Producers for the multiple Tony Award-winning blockbuster and the Paris Las Vegas resort announced Wednesday that they will take the show to Las Vegas in late summer.

A 90-minute, intermission-less version of the play is planned for an open-ended run at the Paris Le Theatre des Arts. Casting and details regarding scheduling and tickets will be announced later.

Film honors: George Lucas was named guest director for Film Independent's 2006 Los Angeles Film Festival (June 22-July 2). He will create a special program of films for the event.
