Bloomberg Is Sworn In for 2nd Term as Mayor

IN BRIEF / NEW YORK

January 02, 2006|From Times Wire Reports

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg was sworn in for another term and presented a rosy view of New York plus a sweeping promise of "finishing our unfinished work."

During an outdoor City Hall ceremony on a chilly gray afternoon, Bloomberg took the oath of office and gave a short inaugural address that touched on the progress he believed he had made, while trying to set a more ambitious tone for the future.

"Now we have a choice to make," Bloomberg said. "We could be content with what we have accomplished -- and preserve our gains -- or we can take our beloved city even further."
