Fox Says Drug Lords to Be Extradited to U.S.

Mexican President Vicente Fox said his country would begin extraditing drug lords to the U.S. within weeks, despite fear of an expected violent backlash from the powerful cartels.

Fox did not say who would be extradited but said they were "those who are wanted by American justice, the big bosses."

The hand-over would represent a major policy shift for Mexico, which has insisted that drug traffickers first serve out their Mexican sentences.
