Toshiba Delays Launch of HD DVD Players

IN BRIEF / ENTERTAINMENT

March 25, 2006|From the Associated Press

Toshiba Corp. said it had postponed the release of high-definition DVD players in the U.S. until April, a month later than planned, so that it could synchronize the sales with title releases from Hollywood studios.

A precise release date was not available, a Toshiba spokeswoman said.

She cited last week's announcement by Time Warner Inc.'s Warner Home Video unit, which said that on April 18 it would release the first titles using the HD DVD format, including "Million Dollar Baby" and "The Last Samurai."
