October 25, 2006|Times Staff Reports

Two suspects have been arrested in the shooting death of a San Juan Capistrano man in August, the city's first homicide in three years. Jose Gonzalez, 28, and Brenda Barroso, 21, were arrested Saturday on suspicion of killing Javier Rodriguez, Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Betzler said.

Rodriguez, 49, was shot while moving someone's pickup as a favor in an alley in the city's La Zanja neighborhood. He was killed by assailants who mistook him for someone they were targeting, Betzler said.
