One in every 825 California households reported foreclosure activity in September, compared to one in every 1,030 households nationally, according to RealtyTrac Inc., an Irvine-based company that monitors such data.
Foreclosure activity -- ranging from default notices issued by the lender when the mortgage payment is more than a month late to the loss of houses -- rose 74% in L.A. County in September, an increase for the fourth straight month, to 3,675 properties. That's one new foreclosure filing for every 890 households.
