KELLEN LEWIS

Indiana

Lewis, a freshman, threw five touchdown passes, including a school-record four to James Hardy, and ran for another score in leading Indiana to a 46-21 victory over visiting Michigan State.

After Michigan State took a 7-0 lead on its opening drive, Lewis took control. Three of his four touchdown passes in the first half were to Hardy, including two during a span of 37 seconds late in the second quarter.

After Lewis threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Hardy with 44 seconds left, Indiana recovered a fumble two plays after the kickoff. Lewis then threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Hardy to give the Hoosiers a 30-7 lead.

Lewis, who completed 15 of 26 for 261 yards, scored on a 27-yard run and passed 13 yards to Hardy for another touchdown in the third quarter.

Lewis also extended his streak of consecutive pass attempts without an interception to a Big Ten-season high 146 before he threw one with less than seven minutes left in the fourth quarter.
