THE SPRING 2007 COLLECTIONS

How's this for a news bite?

NEW YORK — Drama queen Kimora Lee Simmons did not disappoint at her Friday night fashion bash.

It started one full hour late, thanks in part to a scuffle about seating by 50 Cent and his entourage, presumably fed up with authority of any sort after the rapper's traffic stop earlier in the day, which resulted in him being taken to a police station and cited for a lane-change violation and for having an expired license and no registration.

Once the crazy mix of celebs -- Tommy Hilfiger and "Sopranos" shrink Lorraine Bracco among them -- figured out who was sitting where, Simmons sent out models wearing big rhinestone grilles.

You'd think the clothes would have been as kooky as the scene, but they weren't. Cute denim shorts with sexy tops, a cozy sweater jacket, a sizzling satin evening gown with basket-weave detailing, hip trench coats and elegant safari-inspired suits -- all marketable, wearable and cool.
