Re "No room for doubt in the Oval Office," Opinion, Sept. 20
When Max Boot quotes the president's dismissive and callous reaction to the recent spike in killings in Iraq as "just a 'nanosecond' in historical terms," I felt a wave of disgust and anger. Imagine if President Bush were to refer to the terrible suffering of 9/11 as a "nanosecond." It's no wonder Bush is able to continue this failed policy in Iraq without serious thought, because according to him, the suffering of dead and wounded Iraqis, U.S. military and our allies -- and all of us who actually care for our fellow human beings -- represents just a series of nanoseconds in his administration's pathetic and horribly managed misadventure.
