Jon Stewart extends his run on ‘The Daily Show’ through 2010

Jon Stewart isn’t letting the invitation to host the Oscars again go to his head: He’s agreed to a contract extension with Comedy Central that will keep him hosting “The Daily Show” through 2010.

I love doing this show… . I look forward to using this extension to having great fun at President Colbert’s expense,” Stewart joked in a statement today, referring to his colleague Stephen Colbert’s declaration on “The Colbert Report” this week that he would run for president.

The Colbert Report” is produced for Comedy Central by Stewart’s Busboy Productions.

Stewart has been hosting the late-night satirical “Daily Show” since Jan. 11, 1999. His contract had been due to expire at the end of 2008. He also works as one of the show’s writers and executive producers.

The comedian hosted the Academy Award telecast in 2006 and is due to do so again Feb. 24 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
