IN BRIEF / Los Angeles County / FLORENCE - Deputy shoots teenager brandishing a handgun
A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy shot and wounded a 17-year-old boy Sunday after he allegedly pointed a handgun at another deputy, authorities said.
The deputies were investigating a family disturbance call at a home near 76th Street and Parmelee Avenue when they saw the teenager drop a handgun as he walked across the intersection at 2:28 a.m., said sheriff's Deputy Tony Moore.
The deputies ordered the juvenile not to pick up the weapon, but he retrieved the gun and allegedly pointed it at one of the deputies, Moore said. The other deputy fired two shots, striking the unidentified boy at least once in the lower torso.
