Assault alleged at Playboy Mansion

Police are investigating a possible sexual assault at Hugh Hefner's Playboy Mansion, officials said Wednesday.

The investigation was launched Monday, according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement.

"For reasons of law and confidentiality that are critical in such investigations, no additional information will be released," LAPD spokesman Jason Lee said.

A message left with a Playboy spokesman was not returned.

The mansion, in Holmby Hills east of UCLA, is well known for the exclusive parties and other events held on its sprawling grounds.
