August 12, 2007

City Names: The L.A. Then and Now column in the July 29 California section said Paramount Studios inspired the name for a boulevard and a city. A member of the Chamber of Commerce came up with the name Paramount because the word meant "chief in importance; supreme; preeminent." Also, the column said that the community of Rivera was in the northern part of Pico Rivera; it was in the southern part. And in the Pasadena item, the Native American tribe Hahamongna was misspelled as Hahamogna.
