Intermix Sept 14: The boutique with the buying power of a department store is finally taking root in Los Angeles, just across the street from the Ivy. With 20 stores already in the U.S., Intermix has the ability to stock just a handful of pieces from designer brands, including Missoni, Stella McCartney, Yigal Azrouel and Proenza Schouler, alongside more affordable contemporary collections (many of them Los Angeles-based), such as Miss Davenporte, Jenni Kayne and Vince. What it amounts to is an eclectic selection of the season's must-have styles. The 5,000-square-foot space is built around a 100-year-old palm tree, creating a kind of urban garden retail setting.
