Sheriff formally notifies board of plans to retire

August 28, 2007

Sheriff Bob Doyle sent a letter Monday to members of the Riverside County Board of Supervisors formally notifying them that he planned to retire in October.

Doyle told county officials last week that he planned to step down to take a gubernatorial appointment on the state parole board. The governor's office has not announced the appointment. The Board of Supervisors will choose a successor to finish the three years of Doyle's term.
