For the record
Yucca Mountain: An article in Sunday's Section A on the environmental impact of a federal nuclear waste plan said that some shipments to the Nevada dump would travel on Interstate 40 and then up the Cajon Pass, either by truck or rail. Shipments up the Cajon Pass would enter California on Interstate 10 or via a southern rail route, or would come from within California. Shipments coming from out of state on I-40 would move through the Mojave Desert to Yucca Mountain. The story also said the dump would hold 70 metric tons of waste. The correct figure is 70,000 metric tons.
Regulating salt: An article in Thursday's Section A about a possible federal crackdown on sodium in processed foods incorrectly said that Contadina tomato paste had higher levels than Hunt's. Contadina has 20 milligrams of sodium per 2-tablespoon serving; Hunt's has 95 milligrams.
Ralph Rader: The obituary of UC Berkeley English professor Ralph W. Rader in Sunday's California section misstated the number of sons who survive him. Rader is survived by two sons, not three.
"Enchanted" effects: An article in Sunday's Calendar section about visual-effects house Tippett Studio and its work on the Disney film "Enchanted" ran with a photo of the witch Narissa, played by Susan Sarandon, who morphs into a dragon. Although Tippett designed the computer-generated dragon, it was makeup artist Rick Baker who created the look for Sarandon's live-action witch.
"The Man From U.N.C.L.E.": A Critic's Notebook in the Nov. 25 Calendar section about the DVD release of the complete "Man From U.N.C.L.E." episodes should have noted that they are available only through Time Life ( www.timelife.com) and won't be in stores until next fall.
Car review: A review of the 2008 Mercedes-Benz GL320 CDI in the Nov. 28 Highway 1 section gave a figure of 27% for the vehicle's improvement in fuel economy compared with the gasoline-powered GL450. The increase in fuel economy is 36%.
Motorcycle review: In the Nov. 28 Highway 1, torque for the 2007 Jialing JH600 was listed as 12 pound-feet at 4,500 rpm. The bike's maximum torque is 37.6 pound-feet at 4,500 rpm.
"Diva" star: A review of the movie "Diva" in Friday's Calendar section and a correction in Saturday's paper misspelled the name of one of the principal actors, Wilhelmenia Wiggins Fernandez. Her first name was misspelled as Wilhlemina and Wilhelmina; Wiggins was misspelled as Higgins.
