Religion matters

December 08, 2007

Imust contest Tim Rutten's assertion that "[w]e do not and should not ask [the presidential candidates] about [their religious] convictions" ["Corrupt News Network, Dec. 1]. While every person has the right to their religious beliefs, I do not believe that freedom removes the relative absurdity of those convictions from the sphere of legitimate political debate. We will appoint one of these people to the most powerful office in the world, give them control over a massive nuclear arsenal and grant them the authority to direct federal resources for research and education.
