No time to wait

January 02, 2007

The Dec. 29 editorial "The cold, hard truth" should be "The warming, hard truth," which scientists and environmentalists have been tracking for years.

Finally, this administration might be forced to admit that global warming is, indeed, a clear and present danger and take action to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. Failure to do so will have dire consequences.

Waiting one more year to list the polar bear as threatened will mean that it and other species will be even more endangered. Warming won't wait for the Bush administration to catch up.
