Update -- Richmond, of the A-League, beat the USL's Michigan Bucks in the first round of the U.S. Open Cup and the Cleveland City Stars in the second round to earn the matchup with the Galaxy. This will be the Galaxy's first official U.S. Open Cup match. The Galaxy beat the Columbus Crew, 1-0, in its first qualifying match, then defeated the New York Red Bulls, 3-1, to earn a spot in the 40-team field. Tonight's winner will travel to face the winner of the Carolina RailHawks-Chicago Fire contest in the quarterfinals, which are scheduled to begin Aug. 7. This will be the Galaxy's last match before David Beckham begins training with the team, and it kicks off a six-game stretch of nonleague play. The Galaxy's next official MLS game is Aug. 5 against Toronto FC, although L.A. plays at FC Dallas in a SuperLiga match on July 31.
