Thousands of state workers who were sent home without pay Monday were back on the job Tuesday after Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell and Republican legislators hammered out a budget deal in Harrisburg.
State parks, museums, motor vehicle offices and other state facilities were closed for a day amid the partisan deadlock that held up the spending plan.
