THE SCOUT / SEEN

Attention, houseguests

July 12, 2007|David A. Keeps

Been to LAX at night? Then you've probably seen the work of Paul Tzanetopoulos, the Los Angeles-based multimedia artist who designed the kinetic lighting for the towering pylons surrounding the city's airport. Now, in the new show "Eco-logic" at Jancar Gallery, he tackles green issues by transforming utilitarian objects into cultural statements. "The social denial of, and lack of attention to, our planet and our real-time social responsibilities constantly needs to be brought to the forefront of our attention," says Tzanetopoulos, who produced a line of "You Are Here" products as a reminder. The 24-by-30-inch rubber Egomat shown here ($300) comes in red or green;

33-inch-diameter circular carpets ($250 each) with the same motif are available too. They all can be purchased at the exhibition, which runs through Aug. 3 at 3875 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1308, Los Angeles; (213) 384-8077; www.jancargallery.com.
