Frozen yogurt's ardent fans

July 12, 2007

Thanks for an excellent roundup of frozen yogurt and ice cream possibilities ("Try to Top This," July 5). I think Pinkberry is highly overrated (and overpriced) and will be anxious to try some of the many rivals.

Very good article, but there's a sleeper you missed in the sidebar: Mondo Gelato on Pico in Westwood. They have two styles of superb Italian soft-serve plain yogurt, tart and more tart. Plus great gelato and \o7sorbetto\f7.

I have been going to a place in Sherman Oaks for over 20 years called Humphrey Yogart. This by far is the best I've had to date.

Pinkberry, shminkberry. I couldn't care less. But I can take offense at the regrettable absence of Scoops (on Heliotrope north of Melrose) from the list "The Best of the Other Stuff -- Ice Cream." That's a place worth writing about, or at the very least including in any roundup.

How on Earth could Calendar Weekend omit Scoops?
