Day of reckoning is coming

He is absolutely unwilling to tell the truth. God tells us, "I am the truth." Mahony's day of reckoning may not come in court, but it's coming nonetheless.

Don Imus utters a few silly words and almost instantly gets fired from a hugely popular national radio show. Mahony spends years covering up priests' abuse of children so unspeakable that they now want to pay basically $1 billion, including legal fees, and apologize. What's wrong here? Maybe the Rev. Al Sharpton should go to work on this one. Where's the outrage?

My heart hurts for all victims of child abuse; every child deserves the right to live without the threat of abuse. I am most saddened by the recent lawsuits in the Catholic Church scandal. I do not question the validity of claims by those making allegations of abuse; however, has anyone given any thought as to what message this leaves the millions of survivors who were sexually abused by non-Catholic clergy or, worse yet, their parents or kin?

Therein lies the true travesty. There is no amount of money that will make a survivor of child abuse whole and well again; only the grace and mercy from above will.
