Canal is at cross-purposes

July 23, 2007

Re "At what cost water?" July 15

We tell Mexicans who can't make a living in Mexico, "Don't come to the U.S. illegally." Then we take away water that normally flows to Mexico. The small farmers there need that water from to make a living. Isn't there something wrong with what we are doing?

Why stop with efforts to make the All American Canal safer for illegal migrants seeking the freedoms of this country when we could also remove the high walls, barbed wire and electric fences around our prisons to preclude possible injury to inmates illegally seeking their freedoms as well?
