Central Park fount is flowing again

July 31, 2007|From Times Wire Reports

For the fourth time in its history, a 90-year-old fountain that sprays up from the Central Park reservoir is gushing again.

The fountain was reactivated to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the elaborate system of tunnels and reservoirs that brings drinking water from the Catskill Mountains to the city.

New York city officials say it will be turned on at least through the fall and will be illuminated.
