Have an IRA: 41.3%

Have a 401(k): 32.9%

Own stock (not counting mutual funds): 29.7%

Have student loans: 1.9%

Use brokerage service: 29.6%

Average amount in bank accounts: $63,008

Average total debt (including mortgages): $79,493

Average nonmortgage debt: $21,661

Of households with credit cards, those with more than a $10,000 balance: 13.5%

Of households with credit cards, those with no outstanding balance: 34.4%
