Morning Briefing

He earned the honor by composing this entry in a contest at LAKings.com: "I am the biggest Kings fan for one main reason, I was practically born at a Kings game! My mother went into labor at the playoff game between the Kings and the Maple Leafs in 1993. She wouldn't leave and was brought blankets and pillows. It is true I wasn't born until a few days later, but that was only the beginning, I have gone to almost every game since.

"I started skating at 2 years old, played travel hockey and now I am off to Northwood School to follow my hockey dream. I hope that one day I will be more than a guest at the NHL draft, but a top prospect in the draft and play for my favorite all-time team the L.A. Kings. I am your biggest, in heart, fan. Since I won't be attending the games like I used to, because school comes first, this would be something very special to me."

And finally

Alzner, the NHL draft prospect, was asked about his sense of fashion, which includes wearing lots of rubber bracelets as well as donning ankle socks with a suit.

"I have a passion for it. It's a little bit overblown sometimes. I've made a few things here and there, spray-painted hats. And then people are talking about me starting my own clothing line. I don't think that's going to happen."
