Man shoots his wife to death, then kills himself

A man in his 70s shot and killed his wife Friday inside his Baldwin Hills home, then took his own life, police said.

Police arrived at the house in the 4300 block of Don Felipe Drive and found the woman lying on the floor dying.

Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Lee said authorities discovered the body of the husband after SWAT officers went inside the home to search for him.

Assemblyman Mervyn Dymally (D-Compton) went to the scene to encourage the man to give himself up, but refused to say how he knew the man.
