Re "Bush moves to regulate auto emissions," May 15
By waiting until the end of 2008 for responses regarding the threat caused by carbon dioxide emissions, President Bush is only trying to postpone doing anything to benefit the environment and, as some suspect, prevent states from passing their own regulatory laws. If Bush really wanted to protect the environment, he could be proposing new legislation for limiting emissions and reducing greenhouse gases. Instead, the administration refuses to ratify the Kyoto Protocol and denies that regulating tailpipe emissions is necessary, claiming it would be bad for the economy.
