Real Estate: The Hot Property column in the Nov. 4 Real Estate section reported that actor Matthew McConaughey personally knocked on the door of a Malibu home that wasn't on the market and struck a deal. However, the story should not have implied that he chose the home at random. He was represented by Lily Harfouche of Coldwell Banker-Malibu West and was shown the house by the seller's agent, Michael Cunningham of Pritchett-Rapf & Associates, Malibu Road, who had a pocket listing on it.

The updated house, built in 1952, has crown moldings and hardwood floors. A family room leads to a patio. The master-bedroom suite has a deep soaking tub and access to a rear yard that has a pool and deck.

Bachar is best known as a member of the pop/R&B group the Pussycat Dolls. She has been a featured dancer on many pop group tours and music videos.

Tom Hernandez and Mike Toledo from Re/Max on the Boulevard had the listing, and were assisted by Burt Bakman of the same company in Sherman Oaks.

'40s style seems to be his cup of tea

David Barenholtz, co-owner of the uber-chic Beverly Hills-based tea emporium Le Palais des Thes and Culver City-based David Gallery, and his partner, Jeffery Allyn, have purchased the home of the late screenwriter and producer Bernard Gordon for nearly its $2.3-million asking price.

Gordon, who died in May, was blacklisted during the McCarthy era. Among Gordon's films are "Flesh and Fury" and "55 Days at Peking."

The home, built in 1940, is a 3,400-square-foot Art Moderne in the Sunset Hills. It has a sunken living room.

Barenholtz has listed his Sunset Strip home for close to $3 million. Also a 1940s house, it has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and has been completely renovated.

Bennett Carr of Sotheby's International Realty, Beverly Hills, has the listing and represented the buyers of the Gordon home, which Ron Holliman had listed at the Beverly Hills North office of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate.

Same ocean, just different homes

Dan Dugan, a production manager of the TV series "Girlfriends" and "The Game," and his wife, Jessie, have purchased a getaway on Maui for $1 million.

The home is on the highway to Hana and sits on a 2.6-acre bluff overlooking the ocean. There is a one-bedroom, 1,100-square-foot main house and a one-bedroom ohana (a detached guesthouse) with a small kitchen. The home was remodeled in 2003 and has its own solar-power and water systems.

The Dugans live in Manhattan Beach when they are on the mainland.

Elena Panigada of Prudential Real Estate in Kihei represented the buyers and sellers on Maui.
