HP director's resignation: An article in Business on Saturday about former Hewlett-Packard Co. director Tom Perkins' "60 Minutes" interview described him as calling for then-Chairwoman Patricia Dunn's ouster on grounds that she allowed HP investigators to use fake identities to gain access to personal phone records, a practice known as pretexting. That account of events should have been attributed to Perkins; Dunn's contention, her spokesman said, is that she neither allowed nor had the authority to allow any investigation.

Green cities: A story in Sunday's Section A about U.S. cities' efforts to decrease carbon emissions quoted Van Jones, president of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, as saying Oakland Mayor Ron "Dellums and I can't go into West Oakwood and say . . . 'Hey we got to do something about polar bears.' " He actually gave the location as "West Oakland."

Darren Star: An article in Sunday's Image section about the ABC show "Cashmere Mafia" said that executive producer Darren Star had also worked on the NBC show "Lipstick Jungle." Star never worked on the NBC show.

Port trucks: An article in Tuesday's California section about a plan to replace old trucks at the Port of Long Beach with newer, cleaner models said the plan needed to be approved by the Long Beach City Council. Actually, the effort requires only the approval of the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners, which ratified it Monday.

The Eagles: A story on the Eagles in Tuesday's Calendar section said the band signed with Elektra Records in 1971. The band actually signed with a label called Asylum Records, which merged with Elektra in 1973. Additionally, the article incorrectly said the band's new "Long Road Out of Eden" was the first Eagles album since the Carter administration; as the article correctly said later, the Eagles reunited for an album of studio recordings and live performances in 1994.

Clippers: In Monday's Sports section, an article detailing the Clippers' victory over Seattle said that the Clippers lost their first seven home games last season. The Clippers lost their first seven road games last season.

Carol Burnett: A caption with an article in Monday's Calendar section about the PBS "American Masters" show "Carol Burnett: A Woman of Character" referred to Dick Van Dyke, pictured with Burnett, as a guest star on the show. Van Dyke was a cast member on Burnett's variety show during the 1977 season.
