IN BRIEF Los Angeles County / HOLLYWOOD - Investigators say church fire may have been arson
Officials were investigating a fire at a Hollywood church Saturday as a possible arson, said Los Angeles city fire spokeswoman d'Lisa Davies.
Fire personnel were dispatched at 5:47 a.m. to the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood on La Baig Avenue.
The fire caused about $100,000 in damage to one room at the church's Children's Services Center, Davies said.
"Investigators have heard from a witness who saw three kids running from the scene," Davies said. "There was also evidence at the scene that some sort of incendiary device was used."
L.A.'s House of Worship task force, which draws from various law enforcement agencies, also was sent to the scene.
